The battle over Phoebe may be about to become far more dangerous than Chase ever imagined. After his marriage to Brook Lynn began collapsing, Chase went straight to Alexis with the question that matters most: if he ends the marriage, what happens to his rights as Phoebe\u2019s father? Alexis confirmed that the finalized adoption protects his parental status, but she also gave him a warning that could prove far more important than he realizes \u2014 stay out of an ugly family-court fight if at all possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is one major problem. Tracy Quartermaine is already thinking several moves ahead. She has made it clear that protecting Brook Lynn and Phoebe comes first, and if Chase pushes this separation into a custody war, Tracy is exactly the kind of opponent who will search through every corner of his history for ammunition. She may not have to look very far, because Chase has a five-year-old secret involving another baby that suddenly looks very different now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That baby was Bailey \u2014 or, more accurately, Louise August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Longtime GH viewers will remember the extraordinary deception surrounding Bailey in 2021. Brook Lynn was pretending Bailey was her daughter while secretly protecting Maxie\u2019s daughter Louise from Peter August. When Chase eventually learned what was really happening, he did not immediately expose the truth. Instead, he became part of the cover story and claimed that he was Bailey\u2019s biological father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time, Chase believed he was helping protect an innocent child from a dangerous man. That context matters. But family battles have a way of making old decisions look very different when they are dragged out years later. Chase knowingly participated in a false paternity story involving a baby, and now he is preparing for the possibility of fighting for parental rights over another child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That is the part Chase may never have imagined could matter again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tracy knows the Bailey history. She was close enough to the Quartermaine family drama to understand what Brook Lynn had done and why the truth about Louise had been concealed. If the fight over Phoebe turns ugly, Tracy would not necessarily need to prove that Chase was a bad father to Bailey. Bailey was never actually his daughter. She would only need to raise a much more uncomfortable question about Chase\u2019s judgment when children, family secrets and supposedly noble motives collide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Bailey may not be the only thing sitting in Chase\u2019s past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Years earlier, Chase and Sasha staged an affair to convince Willow that their relationship was over. Their goal was to push Willow and Michael together, helping create the family situation they believed Michael needed during his custody battle with Nelle. Chase once again believed he was doing something painful for the right reason, but the method involved deception designed to influence circumstances surrounding a child and a custody fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then there is Chase\u2019s police career. His history at the PCPD has included disciplinary trouble, the loss and restoration of his badge, and more recent questions about whether his personal feelings affected his professional judgment. Tracy knows more about at least part of that history than most people because she once played a role behind the scenes when Chase was fighting to get his badge back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Put those pieces together and Tracy would not be looking at one isolated mistake. She could be looking at a pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chase has repeatedly crossed lines when he convinced himself he was protecting someone. He lied to Willow because he believed Michael needed help protecting Wiley. He participated in the Bailey deception because he believed Louise needed protection. More recently, his actions as a detective have again raised questions about what happens when his personal loyalties collide with rules he is supposed to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That could become explosive if Chase decides Brook Lynn\u2019s past deception proves she deserves less control over Phoebe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brook Lynn certainly has secrets of her own, and Tracy cannot erase them. But custody warfare is rarely about proving one parent has never made a mistake. The more dangerous battle is over which parent can be portrayed as making decisions that create instability around a child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That may be why Alexis\u2019 warning about family court suddenly feels so ominous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chase could walk into a custody fight believing Brook Lynn\u2019s Route 91 deception will be the central issue. Tracy could make sure it is not. The moment Chase\u2019s own history becomes relevant, the argument changes from what Brook Lynn hid to what Chase himself has repeatedly been willing to hide when he decides the end justifies the means.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the cruelest twist would be Bailey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five years ago, Chase stepped forward and claimed another woman\u2019s baby as his own because he believed he was protecting that child. He could never have imagined that decision would someday be revisited while he was fighting to remain the father of Phoebe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chase may think Tracy\u2019s biggest weakness is Brook Lynn\u2019s past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
