Rex then led two police officers to where Cole lay unconscious. Cole was rushed to the hospital with a major skull fracture and internal bleeding. He fell into a coma, and Rex stayed close by, even when he was not allowed inside the intensive care unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About three months later, Cole was still in a coma but was taken home to receive 24-hour care from a nurse. Rex never left his side.
