Fans of daytime drama are always quick to notice even the smallest changes — and this one did not go unnoticed. Jon Lindstrom has officially been added to the opening credits of Beyond The Gates, a move that strongly signals his growing importance on the series.

The update comes at a particularly interesting moment for Lindstrom’s soap career, as his longtime General Hospital character Kevin Collins has just exited Port Charles once again. While Kevin’s departure was framed as a protective decision — leaving town with Ace at Laura’s urging — fans immediately began connecting the dots.

From Recurring to Regular

Since Beyond The Gates premiered in February 2025, Lindstrom has appeared as Joey Armstrong, a character far darker and more dangerous than anything GH viewers are used to seeing from him. However, until recently, Joey had been positioned as a recurring presence, not a full-time fixture.

That status has now clearly changed.

Viewers spotted Lindstrom’s name newly featured in the opening sequence, replacing Ben Gavin (Derek) — a detail that all but confirms Lindstrom’s promotion to series regular. For soap fans, opening credits aren’t just decoration; they’re storytelling clues. And this one suggests Joey Armstrong is about to play a much larger role in the show’s future.

A Strategic Shift?

The timing is impossible to ignore. As Kevin quietly exits General Hospital, Joey is stepping firmly into the spotlight on Beyond The Gates. While no official crossover exists, the contrast feels deliberate — especially for fans who have followed Lindstrom’s career across multiple soaps.

Social media reactions were swift and enthusiastic, with many viewers praising the decision and expressing excitement over seeing Lindstrom unleashed in a more morally complex role.

Kevin Collins (GH) vs. Joey Armstrong (BTG): Two Very Different Sides of Jon Lindstrom

The comparison between Lindstrom’s two characters couldn’t be more striking.

On General Hospital, Kevin Collins is the definition of stability — a trusted psychiatrist, moral compass, and emotional anchor in Port Charles. Kevin often serves as the voice of reason, helping others navigate trauma while rarely embracing chaos himself.

By contrast, Joey Armstrong on Beyond The Gates thrives in uncertainty. He’s manipulative, morally ambiguous, and far more dangerous. Where Kevin listens, Joey provokes. Where Kevin protects, Joey disrupts.

For longtime fans, this shift highlights Lindstrom’s range — and makes his promotion on Beyond The Gates even more exciting. Joey isn’t just another character; he’s a statement that Lindstrom is being trusted with storylines that are darker, riskier, and far more explosive.

What This Means Going Forward

Being added to the opening credits is more than a cosmetic change — it’s a promise. Joey Armstrong isn’t going anywhere, and his influence on Beyond The Gates is only expected to grow.

With Kevin off-screen and Joey front and center, Jon Lindstrom appears to be entering a bold new chapter — one that could redefine how fans see him in the soap world.

And if the opening credits are any indication, this is just the beginning.
