Harrison Chase may be heading toward the cruelest ending imaginable on General Hospital. After walking away from Brook Lynn and once again finding himself pulled into Willow’s problems, Chase could make one final decision to help her. This time, however, that decision could cost him everything. If Sidwell decides Willow knows too much, Chase could become the unintended victim of a deadly hit that was never meant for him.
Willow has become dangerously connected to secrets that extend far beyond her personal drama. The more questions surrounding Drew and the people operating behind him begin to surface, the more dangerous Willow becomes as a potential witness. She may not even understand the importance of everything she has seen or heard. Sidwell, however, would have no reason to take that chance.
That creates a terrifying possibility. Sidwell could decide that Willow needs to be permanently silenced before she remembers the wrong detail, speaks to the wrong person or gives Chase enough information to connect the pieces. Instead of confronting Willow directly, Sidwell could arrange for something to happen to her car, making her death appear far less suspicious than an obvious attack.
A car bomb would be the perfect General Hospital setup because the audience could know exactly what is waiting while Willow and Chase remain completely unaware. Someone could be shown near Willow’s vehicle without revealing exactly what was done. Sidwell’s people would believe their target is about to drive away, and everything would appear to be going according to plan.
Then Chase changes everything.
Willow could suddenly be unable to leave, and Chase could offer to move her car, retrieve something for her or take the vehicle somewhere himself. It would be an ordinary decision, exactly the kind of favor Chase would make without thinking twice. Willow hands him the keys. Chase gets behind the wheel. Somewhere else, Sidwell’s operative receives confirmation that the vehicle is moving.
They believe Willow is inside.
She isn’t.
Chase is.
Seconds later, Willow watches in horror as the attack intended to end her life takes Chase instead. In one instant, Chase goes from the man determined to protect Willow to the man who literally dies in her place. It would be especially brutal considering everything that has happened with Brook Lynn. Chase walked away from his wife after learning she had kept the truth from him, yet his continued instinct to involve himself in Willow’s life could ultimately prevent him from ever making it home again.
The tragedy becomes even more devastating if Chase survives long enough to reach General Hospital. Brook Lynn could rush to his bedside after receiving the call she never imagined getting. All the anger over their marriage would suddenly become meaningless. Chase would have one final opportunity to look at Brook Lynn and realize how much was left unresolved between them.
His final words could destroy her.
“I should have come home.”
Then Chase is gone.
At first, PCPD could assume Chase himself was targeted. He is a detective, and his work has given plenty of dangerous people reasons to want him out of the way. But the investigation would quickly uncover the detail that changes everything: it was not Chase’s car.
It was Willow’s.
That discovery turns Chase’s death into something much bigger. Chase was never the target. Willow was supposed to be in that vehicle, and someone powerful wanted to make certain she never talked again.
For Brook Lynn, the revelation would be unbearable. Chase did not die because of a police case or because someone came after him personally. He died because he happened to get into Willow’s car. After months of Chase defending Willow and worrying about her, Brook Lynn would now have to live with the knowledge that her husband lost his life in a trap intended for the same woman who had become such a painful presence in their marriage.
Tracy would immediately want answers. She would not need to believe Willow deliberately caused Chase’s death to become suspicious of everything surrounding her. Why did someone want Willow gone? What did Willow know? Who was she protecting? And what had Chase discovered before he died?
Meanwhile, Sidwell would receive his own horrifying update.
“There was a fatality.”
“Willow?”
“No. Detective Chase.”
That is when Sidwell realizes his problem has become far worse. Willow is still alive, but now a police detective is dead. What was supposed to quietly eliminate one dangerous witness has instead created a murder investigation capable of exposing the entire conspiracy.
And Chase’s death could ultimately become Sidwell’s biggest mistake.
Because Brook Lynn will want the truth.
Tracy will want revenge.
PCPD will want whoever took one of their own.
And Willow will finally understand that whatever she knows was important enough for someone to want her dead.
Chase may have died in Willow’s place — but his death could be the very thing that finally brings Sidwell down.
