After Britt ended their relationship, Jason went directly to Carly and admitted something incredibly revealing: he could not trust Britt the way he trusts Carly. On the surface, it explained why Jason and Britt finally collapsed. But the statement carries much more weight when placed against Jason and Carly’s decades-long history. These two have protected each other through crimes, marriages, betrayals and family disasters. Most importantly, they have already shared one enormous secret involving the identity of a child’s father.
That child was Michael.
Long before Josslyn was born, Carly allowed Jason to step into the role of Michael’s father even though A.J. Quartermaine was his biological parent. Jason protected Carly, protected Michael and carried a secret that changed several families. That story established something GH has never completely erased: when Carly believes one of her children needs protection, she is capable of hiding the truth about paternity — and Jason is the person she trusts most when that truth becomes dangerous.
But what if Michael wasn’t the last time that happened?
Jason’s September 14 conversation suddenly makes that history impossible to ignore. His absolute faith in Carly raises a much darker possibility: Jason may have trusted Carly so completely that he never questioned what she told him about Josslyn. Carly built a life in which Jasper Jacks was recognized as Josslyn’s father, and Jason remained safely positioned on the outside as someone deeply connected to the family.
That arrangement becomes even more haunting when Jason’s place in Josslyn’s life is remembered. Jason has never been a stranger standing outside Carly’s family. He was chosen as Josslyn’s godfather. He was there around the beginning of her life. For years, he has occupied a position close enough to protect her but never close enough to question whether his connection to her could be something much bigger.

And Brennan could provide the missing bridge.
If Brennan investigated Josslyn deeply before bringing her into his world, a background file could have uncovered an inconsistency Carly thought had been buried forever. Brennan would not even need to confront her. He only needed to keep the information. With Brennan now gone, one forgotten file, medical record or DNA report could survive him — waiting for Josslyn or Jason to discover it.
The emotional fallout would be enormous because DNA would not erase Jax. Jax raised Josslyn and has always been her father in every way that mattered. Jason would almost certainly understand that. The real betrayal would belong to Carly, because she would have denied both men the truth and denied Josslyn the right to know where she came from.
And that brings Jason and Carly back to the same place where their complicated family history began more than two decades ago.
